Martin Gould crashed out of the German Masters on Thursday after a 5-1 defeat to Judd Trump.
The Pinner potter could only look on as UK Championship runner-up Trump made four breaks over 50, including an 84 in frame four.
Gould’s best of 32 came in the opener as he tried to fight back from a 66-0 deficit, but Trump held on to win the frame.
The world number six then took the next one in two visits, but Gould got on the board in a tight third frame.
However, Trump controlled the rest of the match, scoring heavily enough to keep Gould at arm’s length and book a quarter-final with Mark Selby.
World number 26 Gould is next in action on 17 February when he plays Jak Jones in the Welsh Open.
