Martin Gould ended a run of five straight defeats against Judd Trump in spectacular fashion, securing a final-frame victory to move in to the semi-finals of the German Masters.
Gould opened with a break of 100, the only century of the match, but he trailed 2-1 and 3-2 against the world number five.
The Pinner potter, ranked 20th in the world, won the next two frames to lead 4-3 and prevailed in a tense final frame to progress in to the final four, where he will face Scotland’s Graeme Dott on Saturday afternoon.
Gould followed up Wednesday’s win over two-time world champion Mark Williams with whitewash of Ben Woollaston, to earn his match-up with Bristolian Trump.
Trump had won the last five meetings between the pair – including at last year’s German Masters – with Gould’s last victory coming three years ago.
