Martin Gould exited the Indian Open in Friday’s third round after a high-quality encounter with Kyren Wilson.
The Pinner Potter, who had beaten Allan Taylor and Jamie Jones to progress in Hyderabad, found himself up against it after World Championship quarter-finalist Wilson reeled off breaks of 60 and 91 to open up a 2-0 lead.
But Gould hit back to take the next two frames, including an 81 in the fourth, and level the match.
However, Wilson – who at world number 16 is one place below Gould in the rankings – took control again with breaks of 83 and 73 to clinch a 4-2 win.
Wilson later won his quarter-final too, also played on Friday, and will meet veteran Nigel Bond for a place in the final.
