Chiswick Futsal Club have made an assured start to their inaugural season in the FA National Futsal League, winning two of their first five games and scoring a staggering 31 goals along the way.
Since the disappointment of narrowly losing their opening match 4-3 against Futsal Club Enfield, Chiswick have been at times formidable and at times unlucky.
Away wins against Pro Futsal Club (8-3) and Braintree (13-8) were followed by two narrow losses against Kickers Futsal Club (4-6) and, most recently, Barking Futsal Club (3-5) at the Copper Box Arena in Stratford.
The club are now sitting fifth in what is shaping up to be an incredibly competitive league.
Chiswick’s success has come down to team effort and unity, with some brilliant goalkeeping by Tim Amoui at one end of the court and great offensive play at the other.
They can boast one of the strongest attacks in the league – strikers Eder Arrechea, Jamie Tomkins and Antonio ‘Tomas’ Abreu have scored a combined 20 goals in just five games.
First-team manager Peter Prickett said: “The first game taught us some good lessons.
“We have learned quickly and earned two very good results followed by two disappointing results.
“There are still areas to improve but the players have shown a fantastic aptitude for taking on new challenges.”
Club chairman Andrew Lee added: “It’s amazing to continue to see all the hard work come to fruition.
“When we started this club back in 2015, we could only have dreamed of having made such a strong start to the season.
“I’m now really looking forward to further success as the season goes on.”
Chiswick’s next game is at home against Newham Sports Futsal Club at 2pm on Sunday 30 October.
