Ruislip Eagles will hope to make a little bit of club history this weekend when they take on HC Vise in the EHF Challenge Cup.
Marc Fayemi’s side meet the Belgian club over two matches on Saturday and Sunday and victory would put them into the last 16 of European competition for the first time.
This is the Eagles’ fourth Challenge Cup campaign. In the first two seasons, they went out at the round two group stage, while last year they pushed professional side Spartak Varna all the way in round three.
Both Ruislip and HC Vise sit second in their domestic leagues. The Eagles are a point behind leaders London GD after five matches, while their ambitious opponents signed a number of new players over the summer to become a force in Belgian handball.
The Eagles will be without four players for the match. Tobias Stockfleth and Kuba Brzozowski are both injured, while Tibor Szerencse and Kamil Myszak are unavailable.
However, their squad still boasts the likes of Australian playmaker James Ridley, England 2013-14 MVP Marek Urban and GB Olympian Mark Hawkins.
