Eagles to face Bulgarian side in EHF Cup
Ruislip Eagles will face Bulgarian side Spartak Varna in the first playing round of the European Handball Federation Cup.
The tie will be played over two legs, with the first taking place in Bulgaria on November 23 or 24 and the return match being played the following week.
Eagles were beaten by Salford in the England Handball Association Cup final in June and narrowly missed out on second spot in the National Super 8 Handball League.
But their fourth-place finish meant they qualified for Europe for the third successive season.
“For the club it’s a great opportunity and a key part of our learning curve of international high-level handball,” said Eagles manager Marc Fayemi.
“After European cup campaigns in Malta and Moldova the two previous years, we will face a club we do not know, but who will be participating in their seventh European campaign. We are keen to take the challenge.”
