Ruislip Eagles coach Marc Fayemi praised the character of his side as they began 2016 by defeating east London rivals Olympia HC 36-23.
The victory enabled Eagles to avenge their loss to Olympia in the first game of the season.
After a sloppy first 10 minutes, Eagles quickly recovered, kept the ball and the defence of Olympia moving and established a 17-11 lead at the break.
Although this was reduced to 18-16 after the restart, Ruislip rattled in the goals to secure a convincing win.
Sven Moeckel was particularly impressive as he shut down the excellent left-handers of Olympia, while Alexandros Pechlivanis frustrated them further by saving free shots with incredible moves.
In attack, Hannes Mazur showed his skills as a line player once more, Lucas Carstens continued to convert all the seven-metre throws, while Romualdas Sakovicius scored nine clean goals.
Fayemi said: “The players delivered a solid performance and showed great character and desire.
“It looks very promising for the second part of the season as we want to keep performing together at this high level.”
Eagles: Pechlivanis, Boullanger; Sakovicius, Carstens, Moeckel, Mazur, Crocker, Pollino, Barton, Saumer.
