Groves to fight on Joshua bill next month
George Groves will fight at the O2 Arena ahead of Anthony Joshua’s world heavyweight title challenge against Charles Martin on 9 April.
Super-middleweight Groves will face Scotland’s David Brophy, who is unbeaten as a professional – with all but one of his 16 wins coming on points.
The Hammersmith man is eventually hoping to secure a fourth crack at a world title, having lost to Badou Jack on points and been beaten twice by Carl Froch.
Groves returned to action in January by beating Andrea Di Luisa – his first outing since the defeat by Jack.
“I had a good performance last time out against Di Luisa and I will be using that momentum going into this fight,” said Groves.
“Hopefully I’ll get a similar result and we can move on to the bigger fights in the summer.”
He added: “I’m sure it won’t be long until back in the world title mix.
“There’s plenty of big fights out there for me and I’m willing to fight anyone, so we will see what routes open for me.”
