James DeGale says he wants a rematch with Badou Jack after their super-middleweight unification fight in New York ended in a majority draw.
Harlesden’s DeGale retained his IBF title and Jack kept his WBC belt after one judge scored the bout 114-113 to DeGale and the other two scored it even.
DeGale made a great start, knocking Jack down in the opening round.
But the former Olympic champion, 30, was slowed down by a number of body shots and was floored by an uppercut in the final round, which cost him victory.
United States-based Swede Jack, who previously beat DeGale’s arch rival and fellow West Londoner George Groves, has indicated that he will now move up to light-heavyweight.
But DeGale said: I want the rematch. I’ve had 25 fights and I’m going to get better.
“I thought I’d done enough, but it was the knockdown,” he added.
“I’m glad I’m still the champion and I’m coming home with the title but I’m so upset that I didn’t come with the WBC belt.
“The main thing is I didn’t lose. I’m still the champion and I can move forward.”
