Hounslow badminton star Rajiv Ouseph beat Poland’s Przemyslaw Wacha in the final to win the men’s singles title at the Irish International in Lisburn.
Wacha retired at 11-5 down in the second game after the losing the first 21-15. It was Ouseph’s first win against the Polish number one, having lost their previous three encounters.
The victory is set to take Ouseph back into the world’s top 30 and is a major boost for him as he enters the final four months of Olympic qualifying.
Earlier, he defeated Finland’s Ville Lang 21-17 21-15 in the quarter-finals and then beat Mathieu Lo Ying Ping of France 21-13 21-18.
