Rajiv Ouseph begins his 2015 season this week as top seed in the Swedish Masters.
The Hounslow badminton star ended last year as world number 27, eight places down on where he started 2014.
However Ouseph did claim silver in the European Championships in April and reached the semi-finals of the Dutch Open, although he missed out on a medal at the Commonwealth Games.
The 28-year-old will be the one to beat in Uppsala, as the only player inside the world’s top 40 in the tournament.
He begins his campaign against France’s world number 77 Thomas Rouxel early on Friday, with a potential second round match later in the afternoon.
