West London trio make it through in Beijing
Hounslow’s Mo Farah survived a scare on the last bend to make it into Saturday’s men’s 5,000m final at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing.
Farah, who won gold in the 10,000m last weekend, was almost pushed over by Canadian Mohammed Ahmed in Wednesday’s 5,000m heat, but regained his composure to finish second.
Meanwhile, Shelayan Oskan-Clarke, from West Drayton, successfully made it into the semi-finals of the women’s 800m.
She came third in her heat, in a time of 2:01.72 – however this was the slowest of the 24 qualifiers.
Former Middlesex Schools sprinter Bianca Williams also qualified for the semis of the women’s 200m, in a season’s best time of 22.85 seconds.
