Oskan-Clarke storms into World Championship final
West Drayton’s Shelayna Oskan-Clarke produced the finest performance of her career to make the final of the women’s 800m at the World Athletics Championship.
The 25-year-old won her semi in a personal best time of 1:58.86 – only eight British athletes have ever gone faster in the event.
She was given the victory on a photo finish, ahead of France’s Renelle Lamote, and will now be in Saturday’s final.
Meanwhile, former Middlesex Schools sprinter Bianca Williams never recovered from a slow start and came sixth in the women’s 200m semi-final.
Her time was 22.87 seconds, just shy of the season’s-best 22.85 she clocked in the heats, but 0.6 seconds behind a guaranteed qualifying spot.
