Boss wants future of Wealdstone star resolved
Wealdstone manager Dean Brennan wants the future of Dennon Lewis to be resolved as soon as possible.
The 23-year-old winger recently spent a week on trial with League One Charlton Athletic before returning to the Stones.
Charlton are currently under transfer restrictions and can only sign players to replace those who leave.
Brennan admits this leaves Wealdstone in an awkward position as he continues to prepare his side for their first season back in the fifth tier.
“It’s still a little bit up in the air at the moment,” he said.
“They’ve got a situation with their ownership that’s not ideal for them and that leaves us in limbo.
“You understand from the player’s point of view that ideally he’d like a move.
“It is frustrating, I can’t lie. Ideally you just want the situation sorted out but I’m afraid it’s part of the business.
“There’s no bid that’s come in for the player, so I don’t know what they’re thinking, whether they want to sign Dennon or not.
“I allowed him to go there for a week. I wouldn’t usually allow any player to go on trial.”
The former Watford youngster was a key part of the side that won the National League South title last season.
He surprised his new team-mates before the start of that campaign when he appeared in ITV show Love Island shortly after signing.
