United set to bring in Stevenage striker
Hayes & Yeading United are set to strengthen their strikeforce with the loan signing of Stevenage striker Michael Thalassitis – and expect to make more additions next week.
United boss Nas Bashir had a one-month deal for 19-year-old Thalassitis lined-up last week and he was due to appear in the match against Lincoln City.
But when that game fell victim to the big freeze, Stevenage agreed to delay the deal to allow Thalassitis to feature in as many games as possible.
The paperwork is now expected to be completed in time for him to travel to Wrexham this weekend.
Thalassitis, who was born in London but has trained with the Cyprus Under-19s, spent a fruitful loan spell at Conference South Boreham Wood earlier in the season, scoring five goals in 12 games.
And Bashir is confident the player can add firepower to the United squad.
Bashir told West London Sport: “We’ve known him about him for about a year. We had him watched a couple of times when he was at Boreham Wood and he’s a hard-working young player.
“It’ll be for a month initially, but we’ll take it game-by-game and see how he gets on. I’m sure Stevenage will be keeping an eye on him because he’s a talented boy.”
Bashir revealed he hoped to bring in another forward and a winger in the coming days.
He added: “We’ve identified a few players. It’s just a case of getting the right players in.”
