Hayes & Yeading United manager Nas Bashir says his future will be decided after talks with the club’s board this Thursday.
United were relegated on Saturday, ending a three-year stay in the Conference Premier – and Bashir is yet to commit to the club for next season.
The former Wycombe and Reading coach admitted his ambition was to manage a team in the Football League, but said he would be happy to lead United in Conference South if he was backed with the right budget.
Bashir told West London Sport: “I think they would like me to stay. We’ll be having a meeting to discuss ways the club can move forwards again from here.
“I didn’t take this job to take the club down. I want to be at the highest level possible – that’s my ambition.
“If the club has the same ambition as me then I’m sure we can work well together.”
Bashir also hopes to be given some indication of next season’s playing budget at Thursday’s meeting.
He added: “We’ve identified the players we want to keep around – that’s got to be done sooner rather than later.
“The players have liked the way we’ve played this season and the ones I’ve spoken to seem very keen to stay.
“The squad we had for the last 15 games or so is the best set of players we’ve had all season. If we’d had them from the start, things might have been different.”
