Director of football Tony O’Driscoll has been appointed manager of Hayes & Yeading United on a permanent basis.
O’Driscoll had been in caretaker charge following Nas Bashir’s sacking earlier this month, in a period which has seen United pick up seven points from five Conference South matches.
Bashir’s assistant Tristan Lewis will remain as O’Driscoll’s number two.
Many fans were keen for popular former Hayes boss Terry Brown to be appointed.
Brown, who left AFC Wimbledon earlier this season, had expressed an interest in the job.
The club said it had decided to appoint from within to aid its ‘long-term development’.
In a statement, the United board said: “We are committed to building a system of player development that will see the nurturing of young talent through the ranks up to our first team and beyond.
“With the move back to our own facilities and with greater integration and evolution of our youth system, Hayes & Yeading United aim to establish a long-lasting legacy, both for the club and the community.
“[We] believe the existing team with their knowledge, experience, qualifications and vision are best placed to take the club forward into that new chapter.”
A successful businessman and former chairman of Chesham, O’Driscoll became United’s director of football in April 2011, having previously held the same role at the pre-merger Yeading.

R.I.P Hayes
The board should be ashamed of themselves.
Cheapest option obviously! Not very happy.
