Hayes & Yeading chase striker Strutton
Hayes & Yeading United are chasing a prolific striker from three tiers down the non-league pyramid who has attracted interest from League clubs.
Boss Nas Bashir confirmed to West London Sport he has made an approach for Chalfont St Peter striker Charlie Strutton following the loss of top scorer Louie Soares to Grimsby.
Strutton, 22, has scored 14 goals in Southern League Division One Central this season and has spent time on trial at Leyton Orient, Dagenham & Redbridge and Aldershot.
Bashir is hoping the Buckinghamshire club will allow Strutton to play for United in a behind-closed-doors friendly with AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.
He said: “We’ve watched him a couple of times. He’s obviously scored lots of goals but it’s just a question of whether he can come in and do it at this level.
“He’s a strong boy, he takes his shot nice and quickly and he works hard for the team.”
Bashir admitted strengthening his forward line would be a priority when the loan window opens next Wednesday.
“We’re looking pretty settled but if we can get maybe one or two strikers in then that will complete our jigsaw,” he said.
