Harrow appoint Baker as new manager

Harrow Borough have appointed Chipstead boss Steve Baker as their new manager.

Baker replaces Dave Anderson, who announced earlier this month his intention to step down after three and a half years at the helm.

Anderson will take charge of the team for the final time in their Middlesex Senior Cup quarter-final against North Greenford United on Tuesday.

Baker, a former Hayes, Yeading and Hendon player, was chosen from 30 applicants and leaves Chipstead 14th in Ryman Division One South.

He began his coaching career working for franchise soccer schools in conjunction with Arsenal and Chelsea before a brief spell as first team coach at St Albans City in 2007-08.

After two years as manager at Egham Town, Baker was on the coaching staff at Beaconsfield SYCOB and Wingate & Finchley, before returning to management with Walton & Hersham in 2013.

His stay there was short-lived before he moved on to Chipstead, and will now hope to revive a Harrow side 23rd in the Ryman Premier Division.
