Hampton & Richmond Borough 0 Brentford 5
Stuart Dallas scored on his debut as a side of mostly reserves and trialists opened Brentford’s pre-season campaign with a resounding win.
Midfielder Dallas, a summer signing from Northern Irish side Crusaders, made a promising start to his Bees career, while trialists Rowendey Schoop, 19, and Leon Redwood, 20, also netted.
All five goals came in a one-sided first half in which Alfie Mawson and Myles Weston scored too.
Hampton were handed an early chance to go ahead when Charlie Moone was brought down by keeper Antoine Gounet, who atoned by saving the striker’s resulting penalty.
Brentford then took control, with Mawson heading in Jake Reeves’ right-wing corner before Dallas finished well after being set up by Weston.
Powerful striker Schoop – currently on Ajax’s books – then fired home and Weston headed the fourth, before a cracking long-range strike from left-back Redwood, who is a product of Brighton’s youth system and was loaned to Dover Athletic last season.
Other Brentford trialists in the squad were Max Herbert, Ishmael Thomas and keeper Matt Gledhill – all recently released by Wycombe – former Charlton forward Tosan Popo, Irish centre-back Josh Robinson and midfielder Albert Levett, who played for Redbridge last season.
Former Brentford favourite Darren Powell came on for Borough as a second-half substitute.
