Former AFC Wimbledon man latest to join Stones

Wealdstone have made their fourth signing of the summer with the addition of former AFC Wimbledon midfielder Ricky Wellard.

The Hammersmith-born 28-year-old had spells last season at National League side Welling United and the Stones’ league rivals Hemel Hempstead Town.

He played for Wimbledon between 2009 and 2012 and has also played for Cambridge United, Salisbury City and Sutton United.

Former Brentford midfielder David Hunt, Hayes and Yeading United striker Elliot Benyon and Margate midfielder Danny Green have also signed for the Stones in the last 10 days.

Meanwhile, former Enfield Town boss Steve Newing has joined the club’s coaching staff.
