Stones boss adds pair to squad
Wealdstone have signed Hayes & Yeading United striker Elliot Benyon and midfielder Danny Green from Margate.
Benyon, 28, was United’s top scorer last season with 17 goals but could not prevent their relegation from National League South.
He spent spells in the Football League with Torquay, Swindon, Wycombe and Southend and has twice played at Wembley, in an FA Trophy final and the Conference Premier play-off final.
Green, 25, started his career with Harlow Town and then went on to play for Cheshunt, Bishop’s Stortford, St. Albans and Billericay Town before joining League Two Dagenham & Redbridge in May 2010.
He made only 11 league appearances for the Daggers, and was loaned out to Braintree, Chelmsford, Boreham Wood and Dover, before spells with AFC Sudbury, Bishop’s Stortford, Thurrock and Maidenhead.
Wealdstone boss Gordon Bartlett said both deals were long in the making.
“I spoke to Danny last pre-season, so 12 months of patience has been rewarded. his creativity and eye for a goal will be a big asset to the squad.
“Danny is the type of player who possesses the ability to be a match-winner and provide entertainment for the fans as well.”
On Benyon, he added: “It has taken a little while, but we are delighted Elliot has decided to sign.
“He has good experience and has always impressed us with his ability and work rate.”
