Hampton & Richmond Borough secured the Ryman Premier Division title and with it a return to National League South after a goalless draw against Enfield Town.
A crowd of 2,376 packed into the Beveree as Alan Dowson’s side clinched the point they required for promotion.
Their title rivals Bognor beat Hendon 4-0, putting the two sides level on goal difference – meaning any late Enfield winner would see the Sussex side as champions instead.
But the Hampton defence stayed strong during a tense game, with goalkeeper Mark Smith – on loan from Brentford – making two good saves.
The referee’s final whistle sparked celebrations as Hampton guaranteed their place back in National League South, four years after their relegation.
