Alex Dyer has left Wealdstone to join Conference Premier newcomers Welling United.
The Montserrat international scored 32 goals in 117 games for the Stones but has now decided to try his luck in non-League’s top flight.
Centre-back Darren Locke has also left the club and moved to Southern League Premier side St Albans City.
On Dyer’s move, Stones boss Gordon Bartlett said: “Alex is an outstanding talent and it’s no surprise that he has looked to get back to playing at a higher level – something that he has always been very honest about with his ambition to get back to pro football.
“He has done a great job for us and we wish Alex all the very best.”
Meanwhile, Stones chairman Howard Krais has refuted rumours the playing budget had been cut and insisted it will be at the same level next season.
He said: “It is our intention, as it always is, to support the team as best as we’re able to. We’ll do that without spending silly money that we don’t have.”
