Boss upbeat despite Hampton loss

Hampton & Richmond manager Mark Harper insists his side can bounce back from their opening-day defeat against Bromley.

Mike Jones’ last-gasp winner for the Kent outfit meant Borough made losing start to Harper’s reign as manager.

But Harper, who worked under Alan Devonshire before replacing him as Beavers boss, saw plenty of promise.

Only three of Saturday’s starting 11 featured at the end of last season, and he  believes they will come good.

Harper said: “I’m bitterly disappointed with the result obviously, but we can take a lot of positives. It’s a massive improvement as a club going forward.

“The guys that have come in have fitted in really well and the banter in the changing room is fantastic. If we play like that week in, week out, then we should be okay.”

Borough are in action again on Tuesday when they visit Woking.
