A Stones throw away from maiden win
Gosport Borough 0 Wealdstone 0
Wealdstone were controversially denied their first win in Conference South after Scott McGleish’s injury-time strike was ruled out due to a foul throw in the build up.
The veteran striker volleyed home with only seconds remaining but an eagle-eyed assistant referee spotted that Jack Mills had a foot over the touchline when he took the throw that started the attack.
McGleish had hit the crossbar early on while Stones keeper Jonathan North made a fine save from Gosport’s Matt Patterson.
After the break, Wealdstone sub Tom Collins clipped the ball wide with only the goalkeeper to beat and the visitors thought they’d won it only to have their celebrations cut short by the flag.
Hayes and Yeading United 3 Concord Rangers 1
Hayes and Yeading cruised to victory in their first match at their new temporary home at Maidenhead.
Two goals in the final five minutes of the first half put United in control. Fabio Bufano scored the opener from a corner before Dan Wishart, the provider, turned goalscorer with a precise free-kick.
Phil Babb’s side, who struggled last season in ‘home’ matches at Woking, then put a gloss on the scoreline through Myles Stephenson late in the game.
Concord’s Danny Glozier pulled a goal back from the penalty spot in injury time, after Bufano was penalised for handball, but there were no further scares as United made it two wins from two.
Ryman Premier Division round-up
Hampton and Richmond Borough conceded four goals at home for the second time this week as they crashed to a surprising home defeat to newly-promoted Witham Town.
Charlie Moone had given Hampton a half-time lead with a penalty on 34 minutes but Witham levelled shortly after the break through a Lewis Godbold header.
Five minutes later, Ben Harris restored the hosts’ lead but the visitors equalised for a second time almost immediately through Tom Wraight.
Moone had a second chance from the spot but this time hit the underside of the bar and that miss proved costly as Wraight and Leon Antoine struck in the final eight minutes to condemn Hampton to their third successive loss.
A cruel goal 13 minutes from time cost Harrow Borough the chance of taking a point off title favourites Margate at Earlsmead.
Charlie Allen’s penalty put Terry Brown’s Margate ahead just after the half hour mark but Harrow got back on terms early in the second half through Simeon Akinola.
However, a Kane Wills shot from distance took a huge deflection off Michael Peacock to wrong foot Charlie Horlock in the Harrow goal and make it three from three for the big-spending Gate.
Hendon picked up their second win of the campaign as they came away from VCD Athletic with a 3-1 win.
Kezie Ibe gave the Greens the lead just before half-time, Sam Murphy doubled it on 65 minutes with his first goal for the club and, although Ahmed Deen pulled a goal back for the newly-promoted side, Aaron Morgan made sure of the points in stoppage time.
