Voges wants Middlesex to pressurise Hampshire

Middlesex captain Adam Voges has warned his bowlers they can ill-afford another slow start if they want to earn their first County Championship win of the season next week.

Voges’ side have drawn their opening two matches, after the batsmen dominated against Warwickshire and snow curtailed this week’s trip to Durham.

Middlesex travel to Hampshire with their latest four-day match beginning on Sunday – and Voges is keen to get on top early on.

He said: “Our first 10 overs with the ball against Durham were really disappointing.

“I’m not sure whether it was just a question of warming up, but once we got through that we dragged it back quite well.

“We will be stressing that we need to start better this time.

“We have played some good cricket in the last two games but we need to do it for longer periods of time.”

Spinner Ollie Rayner could be involved at the Ageas Bowl after not being selected for the first two Championship matches.
