Middlesex’s first T20 match at Lord’s was abandoned without a ball being bowled after heavy rain and a nearby thunderstorm.
An anticipated crowd of almost 17,000 were left disappointed after rain set in soon after the teams had finished their pre-match warm-ups.
Middlesex captain Dawid Malan had won the toss and chosen to bat first but the matchwas unable to get under way at its scheduled 6.15pm start time.
The abandonment came at just after 8pm, with lightning spotted on the horizon at Lord’s.
