Middlesex were left frustrated after rain wiped out the first day of their Championship match at Edgbaston.
And while they were left kicking their heels, leaders Yorkshire – already 30 points ahead and with a game in hand – were busy establishing a strong position in their match against Somerset.
Middlesex saw their morning washed out but hopes were high of a restart after lunch, with the visitors winning the toss and electing to bat.
But before the openers could reach the middle, the rain returned and the day’s play was abandoned around 4.15pm.
Meanwhile, Yorkshire bowled Somerset out for 110 at Taunton and then raced into a first-innings lead, taking them closer to the title.
