Middlesex star Malan pens three-year deal
Middlesex batsman Dawid Malan has been rewarded for his fine form this season with a new three-year deal.
The 27-year-old scored 1,137 runs in the County Championship in 2014, at an average of just over 45. Only five batsmen, including Middlesex skipper Chris Rogers, scored more runs in Division One this year.
It is the second time in his career that Malan has passed 1,000 first-class runs in a season.
On signing his deal, Malan said: “I am delighted to have extended my stay at the club that gave me my opportunity as an 18-year-old in 2006.
“I am confident that the club will be challenging for silverware over the next few years and aim to play a big part in those successes.”
Middlesex managing director of cricket Angus Fraser added: “Dawid remains one of the more gifted cricketers in county cricket and it has been good to see him score runs in all forms of the game this season.
“It is great to see a player at your club begin to produce a set of figures that should ensure they will be fondly talked about by members in many years to come.”
Malan has now played more than 260 first-team games for Middlesex since making his debut in 2008 and in that time has made 10,370 runs in all forms of the game
