Middlesex frustrated by third-day washout
Nottinghamshire 354: Patel 86; Roland-Jones 5-61
Middlesex 203-3: Robson 114*, Simpson 66*; Hutton 2-47
Close, day three: Middlesex trail Nottinghamshire by 151 runs
There was frustration for Middlesex and Nottinghamshire after the third day’s play at Lord’s was lost to rain.
The groundstaff began removing the covers at 2.30pm after morning rain but just as umpires Rob Bailey and Billy Taylor were inspecting an hour later it started to drizzle again.
Play was eventually abandoned for the day at 4.10pm.
Middlesex will resume on Wednesday on 203-3 in reply to Nottinghamshire’s 354, with Sam Robson unbeaten on 114 and John Simpson 66 not out.
So far, the fourth-wicket pair have added 154 but the final day looks destined to be a battle for bonus points with little prospect of a positive result.
