Middlesex have signed New Zealand bowler Mitchell McClenaghan for the final six group matches of the NatWest T20 Blast.
The left-arm paceman, who has played in 16 T20 internationals, will take over from Kyle Abbott, whose spell with the club will expire at the end of June.
McClenaghan is currently among the leading wicket-takers at this year’s IPL, taking 14 for the Mumbai Indians, and will be in contention to make his Middlesex bow against Sussex Sharks at Lord’s on 2 July.
McClenaghan said: “It’s every player’s dream to play at Lord’s and I am delighted to have the opportunity to do so wearing a Middlesex shirt.
“The club have made a strong start to the season and I can’t wait to join up with the squad at the end of June and hopefully contribute towards a challenge for silverware.”
Middlesex director of cricket Angus Fraser added: “Replacing one high-quality overseas fast bowler with another was not easy but we have managed to do this with the signing of McClenaghan.
“Mitchell’s style, left-arm fast, gives him a point of difference and his skill has allowed him to take wickets wherever he has played.”
