Kacaniklic backs under-fire Fulham boss
Fulham winger Alex Kacaniklic says the recent criticism aimed at manager Martin Jol has been unfair.
Jol was the target of frustration from a number of fans following the 1-1 draw at home to West Brom.
Pressure has been mounting on the Dutchman, whose side are third from bottom of the Premier League with five games played.
But Tuesday’s Capital One Cup win against Everton was a much-needed boost, and Sweden international Kacaniklic insisted: “The stick wasn’t really fair.
“We should have won the West Brom game and we were really unlucky, and we were unlucky at Newcastle too.
“He is great. Everyone has got their own style but, as a player, you want to be able to speak to the manager and have confidence that you can speak to him.
“He is always out on the training pitch with us and wants to get involved. He is always encouraging us so we are really happy for him and the team [to have beaten Everton].”
Fulham host newly promoted Cardiff City on Saturday and are hoping to win successive games for the first time this season.
Kacaniklic added: “It hasn’t been going for us in the league. We have played well but we haven’t taken the points.
“But we are happy to win and now we look forward to Cardiff.”
