Veteran keeper Kiraly signs Fulham deal

Fulham have signed vastly experienced former Crystal Palace goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly on a one-year deal.

The 38-year-old Hungary international has spent the last five years of his career at 1860 Munich, making 168 appearances in Germany’s second tier.

After loaning Maarten Stekelenburg to Monaco, selling David Stockdale to Brighton and releasing Neil Etheridge, Fulham have started the Championship season with 21-year-old Jesse Joronen in goal.

In the League Cup against Brentford on Tuesday, boss Felix Magath handed a Whites senior debut to Marcus Bettinelli, whose only previous first-team experience had been in the Conference with Dartford and League Two with Accrington Stanley

But Magath has turned to his native Germany to add experience to his ranks in the shape of Kiraly, who first came to prominence with Hertha Berlin before a three-year spell at Palace.

In a senior career which started in 1993, Kiraly has played more than 750 professional games.

Magath said: “Gabor is a goalkeeper with vast experience of playing at the top level in England and Germany.

“He will be an important addition to our squad for this current season and he will also be able to assist our two young goalkeepers with their continued development and progression in our first team.”
