Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic says an England World Cup call for in-form teenager Ryan Sessegnon is not out of the question.
The 17-year-old is the Whites’ leading scorer this season, in only his second campaign as a professional, with 13 goals, and Spurs have long been interested in him.
He was part of England’s European Under-19 Championship-winning squad last summer, alongside Fulham team-mate Tayo Tayo Edun and Chelsea’s Dujon Sterling and Mason Mount.
He has been watched by England assistant coach Steve Holland and Jokanovic believes Sessegnon could be another wildcard after the examples of Michael Owen in 1998 and Theo Walcott in 2006.
“This decision is not in my hands. But this kid can do important things,” Jokanovic said.
“He has shown the quality to compete in senior football and with the Under-19 national team, being champion of Europe with a generation two years older and be one of the top scorers of the tournament.
“If he goes to the World Cup, it won’t be the first time – remember, Michael Owen and Theo Walcott were part of this tournament at a similar age.
“If they decide not to bring him this time, I am sure he will be part of the next European Championships. I don’t say 100 per cent, but 99.9 per cent.”
