Silva savours ‘massive win’ for Fulham

Marco Silva admitted Fulham were fortunate to claim all three points from Brighton after being outplayed for long periods at the AMEX Stadium.

Substitute Manor Solomon’s late winner sealed the three points for the Whites but Silva said the victory made up for late heartbreaks his side have experienced in games against Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United earlier this season.

The victory moved Fulham up to sixth in the Premier League table and the Portuguese said it was a big moment in the club’s season to win when not at their best.

“It wasn’t our best performance, I have to be honest and say Brighton played better than us,” Silva said.

“I have to congratulate our boys as we have showed the resilience and belief they have showed.

“But what I was not so pleased about was the performance we showed on the ball, we were not at our level.

“We knew Brighton would be dominant on the ball, the first half they were clearly better in the first half.

“We made some changes at halftime and we were better in the second half with some substitutes we made.

“Manor had a impact on the game but overall it was a great three points for us. Brighton deserved more from the game but I have to say there have been games where we have played better than the opposition this season and got nothing.

“I remember the games against Tottenham and Man United and at the end of those we came with nothing.

“But this is a massive win for us it shows the capacity to win football matches when you are not playing well.”
