Fulham boss Silva faces decision on Solomon
Fulham boss Marco Silva says Manor Solomon is not guaranteed to start against Brentford on Monday despite his strong showing against Leeds this week.
Solomon, who has scored in his past four appearances, is yet to start a game in the Premier League but played a starring role in the 2-0 FA Cup fifth-round win on Tuesday, netting with a brilliant curling strike.
However, Silva says Willian’s performances this season have made it hard for him drop the former Chelsea winger and hinted Solomon may have to be content with a place on the bench again.
“He has been so important to us, but Willian plays in that position as well, Bobby (De Cordova-Reid) has been so important for us as well.
“Then there is also Harry Wilson and Dan James as well waiting for their chance.
“There has been his goals which all been great finishes so I understand the questions around him, but I will have to make a decision.”
Solomon joined on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer after foreign players in Ukraine were allowed to defer their contracts for a year because of the ongoing war with Russia. The Whites are hoping to sign him on a permanent deal.
“It was a long process for him to sign for us and one of the first targets for me and one I put on the table for our board to sign,” Silva said.
“Obviously when the situation with Shakhtar went on longer than we liked we had to sign him on loan.
“We have to wait for the right moment to sit with him again and see what will be the decision. But it is not our focus right now.”
