Ruiz’s transfer to Sporting is confirmed

Fulham have confirmed that Bryan Ruiz has joined Sporting Lisbon for an undisclosed fee.

The Costa Rica international, who turns 30 next month, was signed from Dutch club FC Twente for £10.6m in 2011.

Fulham have been trying to offload him for more than a year but in May took up an option in his contract enabling the club to extend it until 2016 and ensure they could recoup a transfer fee for him.

Ruiz, who ended last season back in the Netherlands, on loan at PSV Eindhoven, scored only 13 goals in his 107 appearances for the Whites.
