Rodallega earns Fulham victory at Leeds

Leeds United 0 Fulham 1

Hugo Rodallega struck his sixth goal in eight games to earn Fulham a fine victory at Elland Road.

The Colombian latched on to Lasse Vigen Christensen’s pull-back on the hour mark to net the only goal of a tight game.

Leeds’ Alex Mowatt hit the bar on 29 minutes, which was the only action of note in a low-key first half.

Adyran had several chances for the home side, either side of Rodallega’s strike, but Fulham’s hard-working defence held firm to banish the memories of last Friday’s horror show against Watford.

Leeds shaded the opening 45 minutes, with the impressive Sam Byram firing across goal, but neither goalkeeper was troubled until the 29th minute when Mowatt got up to head the ball against the woodwork.

Late in the half, Gabor Kiraly – in goal for Fulham for the suspended Marcus Bettinelli – pushed away a shot from Byram to keep the game goalless at the break.

The second half was more open, with Seko Fofana’s tame shot gathered by Leeds keeper Marco Silvestri, while at the other end Adryan’s overhead kick went wide.

The winner arrived on 60 minutes. After Jack Grimmer’s throw, Christensen worked his way past a defender and laid the ball across the box and Rodallega drilled in from 10 yards.

The goal energised Leeds a little and Kiraly made a save from Adryan, before the same player headed wide after the goalkeeper had missed a cross.

Rodallega missed a good opportunity to make the game safe, blazing high and wide, but it mattered little as the Whites remained strong to secure the points.
