Riise injury worries Fulham
John Arne Riise could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a leg injury during Fulham’s Europa League match against Dnipro.
The Whites left-back limped off 22 minutes into the qualifying play-off second leg in Croatia and was replaced by youngster Matthew Briggs.
Fulham lost the game 1-0 but prevailed 3-1 on aggregate, securing a place in the group stage of the competition.
But they are anxiously assessing the injury picked up by summer signing Riise, who has impressed since arriving from Italian club Roma.
The former Liverpool man looks certain to miss Sunday’s match at Newcastle, where Fulham will be looking for their first Premier League win – and goal – of the season.
