On-loan Stockdale signs new deal
Goalkeeper David Stockdale has signed a new four-year contract with Fulham and joined Ipswich on a season-long loan.
Stockdale, 25, was included in the England squad last season and stood in for first-choice Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer on 10 occasions.
A number of clubs expressed an interest in taking him on loan this summer, but Ipswich boss Paul Jewell convinced Stockdale to move to Portman Road.
“I had a great talk with the gaffer here and Ipswich Town is a big club, so I was eager to come here,” Stockdale told Ipswich’s website.
“The manager told me about the quality of the signings he’s made and where they’re heading, and everything he told me made me keen to join the club.
“Now I’m just looking forward to getting going and playing my part in what I hope will be a successful season for Ipswich.”
Stockdale, who started his career atYork City, joined Fulham from Darlington in 2008.
