Sheyi Ojo’s fortuitous goal gave Fulham the points at Craven Cottage.
There was nothing fortuitous about Floyd Ayite’s brilliant opener nine minutes into the second half – a thumping strike which gave the Whites the lead.
Tom Bradshaw headed Barnsley level, but Fulham regained the lead when Tykes keeper Adam Davies misjudged a cross from Ojo and the ball bounced in off the far post.
It was a deserved victory for Fulham and one which lifted them to 11th in the Championship table.
Ayite, back in the starting line-up after missing four games with a hamstring injury, was lively – and missed a decent chance before eventually scoring.
Yet the visitors had a chance to snatch a point when Bradshaw shot wide afger after being found by Lloyd Isgrove.
