Mixed feelings for Fulham boss Jol

Fulham manager Martin Jol had mixed emotions after his team’s dramatic 3-3 draw at Arsenal.

Dimitar Berbatov’s penalty – his second goal of the game – put the Whites within sight of their first ever away win against the Gunners.

But Olivier Giroud equalised and it would have been even worse for Fulham had Mark Schwarzer not saved Mikel Arteta’s penalty at the death.

Jol said: “I have mixed feelings because it’s disappointing to be 3-2 up [and not win]. I really thought this could be the first time ever that Fulham win at Arsenal, but it wasn’t to be.

“But to then have conceded a penalty – maybe we should be pleased [with a draw]. I think the referee was also pleased it didn’t go in. It wasn’t a penalty.

“If you get point after they’ve had a penalty then you are pleased, as we could have lost.

“In hindsight, everything is fine. After we went 2-0 down I thought it could be a bad day for us.”
