McDonald: Sessegnon is Fulham’s hardest worker
Kevin McDonald has praised team-mate Ryan Sessegnon for his outstanding work ethic after the teenager scored his 15th goal of the season in Fulham’s 3-0 victory at Millwall.
The 17-year-old, who won both Championship Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards, reacted quickest once again to pounce on keeper Jordan Archer’s parry and give the Whites the lead early in the second half at The Den.
McDonald doubled Fulham’s lead shortly afterwards with a fierce long-range strike and Aleksandar Mitrović notched his 11th goal in as many matches late on to extend Fulham’s unbeaten run to 22 games.
But it was Sessegnon whose name was being sung by the away fans long after the final whistle.
“Sess has been consistent all season,” McDonald said. “For such a young kid, he impresses every game. He picks himself up for the big stage.
“He works hard every day in training – probably the one who works hardest. We’re happy to have him. How long we’ll have him for, I’m not sure, but he’s doing well for us just now.”
The Scot added: “Sess is just that guy. He’s on a wave right now and just continuing in every game. We’re proud of him and we’re lucky to have him.”
The win lifted Fulham back into the automatic promotion places, sitting two points ahead of Cardiff City, who play Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
