Jol leaves door open for Murphy to take Fulham coaching role

Martin Jol says the door is open for Danny Murphy to begin his coaching career at Fulham if the veteran midfielder decides to stay at the club.

His contract expires at the end of the season and QPR’s former Whites boss Mark Hughes is interested in signing him with a view to Murphy taking on a coaching role at Loftus Road.

But Hughes’ successor Jol insists that option is available to Murphy at Fulham as well.

Jol, who hopes the 35-year-old signs a new deal, said: “We are still talking, and of course he could coach here also.”

Hughes has refused to confirm his interest in Murphy, who is one of several players being considered by Rangers as a possible summer signing.

“I don’t discuss other clubs’ players. It’s just not something I do,” the Welshman said.
