Martin Jol believes former Fulham star Moussa Dembele has been instrumental in Tottenham’s success this season.
Spurs activated the 25-year-old’s £15m release clause at the end of last summer’s transfer window and Fulham boss Jol was forced into a reluctant sale to the Dutchman’s former club.
“I think a lot of players would like to be like Moussa – a player wants to be like him,” Jol said ahead of Fulham’s clash with Spurs this afternoon.
“Maybe [players want to be like] Gareth Bale as well, of course, but especially Dembele. Players recognise another player and on the ball, pound for pound, Moussa is probably the best.
“Every time he plays for Spurs they seem to have better results. If he is not playing things are different for them.
“You can give him the ball and he won’t give it away because he’s too strong, so even if there’s no time and space he will get away from people and you won’t get the ball off him.”
