Jol calm despite Fulham’s Cup defeat
Martin Jol insists he does not fear for his future despite Fulham’s Capital One Cup exit at the hands of Championship side Leicester.
The fourth-round defeat was the latest disappointing result of a troubled season so far for the Whites.
They are 14th in the Premier League and some fans called for manager Jol to go following a recent run of five matches without a win.
But the Dutchman does not feel the Cup loss has left him under increased pressure.
“I don’t feel pressure because we’re not bottom of the league – there are six or seven other teams on similar points or lower,” he said.
“If people tell me I’ve got pressure, then I’ve got pressure, but for me it’s no problem.”
Tuesday’s 4-3 defeat came after Fulham had battled back to level having been 3-1 down.
They showed fighting spirit but paid the price for some dismal defending.
“A few boys showed they could play and I thought the spirit during the game was good, but we gave cheap goals away,” Jol admitted.
