Mitrovic was what Fulham needed – Jokanovic
Slavisa Jovanovic says the form of Aleksandar Mitrovic is vindicating his demand for Fulham to sign a top-quality striker.
The on-loan Newcastle forward bagged two more goals to crush Sheffield United on Tuesday – his fourth and fifth in four matches – and Whites boss Jovanovic expects his fellow Serb to keep improving.
“I expected him to be like this. He’s a quality player and he started well with us. He is proper striker, what we have been looking for, for a long period,” he said.
“He brings us different options. People are thinking I need the help, yes I need the help, but the Fulham players need the help too.
“He’s a great signing for us. He started well, now he has adapted and I still think he can do better. We expect he is still going to be in better shape and contribute to the team like he has done so far.
“He scored two goals and made a great job for us tonight. He protected and held many balls for the guys and worked well for the goals, and he can also help at set pieces and defend set pieces.
“It was another good performance. It’s not easy to play against Sheffield United but we adapted ourselves and in the end we controlled and managed he situation in the perfect way.”
