Slavisa Jokanovic admitted Fulham felt the pressure of a “crucial moment” in their season before coming from behind the beat relegated Sunderland.
The Whites moved back into second place with a 2-1 win but must hope third-placed Cardiff, who have two games left, drop points.
Whites boss Jokanovic said: “In the first 45 minutes we wanted to dominate but we started by not taking risks with the pass or being dangerous enough.
“We weren’t comfortable enough and missed some easy passes, and Sunderland said ‘okay we’ll do some damage’ – and their goal wasn’t an easy moment for us.
“I am talking about some kind of pressure. This is a crucial moment in the Championship but on the other side I expect us to take this pressure off our backs.
“I don’t expect we are going to be under this kind of pressure in the next game.”
Aleksandar Mitrovic’s late winning header looked to be offside and Jokanovic admitted his team may have got lucky.
“Sometimes you must be lucky in this life. It’s important,” Jokanovic said.
“I thought we showed great character to get this very important three points and we must now try and beat Birmingham.”
