Injury woe for Fulham’s Davies
Fulham midfielder Simon Davies could be sidelined for a further five months after suffering complications in his recovery from a knee injury.
Having missed the start of the season, the 31-year-old Wales international hoped to make a speedy return to action but is now likely to be out until well into the new year.
Meanwhile, the Whites will assess striker Bobby Zamora before boss Martin Jol names his side for Sunday’s game at Newcastle.
Zamora has sat out the last two matches because of an ankle problem and was particularly missed in last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at Wolves.
John Arne Riise looks certain to be unavailable for the trip to Tyneside after limping off during the first half of Thursday’s Europa League qualifying play-off second leg against Dnipro.
Fulham’s 3-1 aggregate win against the Croatian team sealed their place in the group stage of the competition, where they will face Dutch club FC Twente, Denmark’s Odense and Wisla Krakow of Poland.
